Hugh Wilson - Into Light

'INTO LIGHT' is a praise & worship/contemporary christian CD from Aussie singer-songwriter Hugh Wilson. A collection of songs recorded over 5 years, the album therefore has certain stylistic variety, with each of the ten songs possessing somewhat differentiated identities; from the Beatlesque 'I will walk with you', to the country influence of 'All I live for' to the electronica of 'Problem Solver' or the pop/rock of 'Started Something'. A conjoining thread however, is Hugh's consistently high quality vocals and of course the subject matter: songs sung to his creator and messiah. Some of the songs have been used for collective praise & worship in christian churches, while others seemingly exist for more personal reflection, meditation and prayer. On the whole, it seems we get a fair insight into aspects of Hugh's relationship with his God through these, at times, highly personal songs; but the songs are also able to be used by the listener to assist their own communication with God: 'Water to my soul', My King and My saviour' and the title track 'Into Light' being cases in point.
