Having problems trying to pair Apple Watch with new iPhone?

There are a few problems you may come across while trying to pair both devices:

A watch face appears

If during the pairing process a watch face appears, this means your Apple Watch is already paired to another device. You’ll need to reset your Apple Watch so it disconnects from the iPhone it’s paired to.

Just follow these steps:

  1. Open settings on your Apple Watch
  2. Go to General and Reset
  3. Choose Erase All Content and Settings
  4. Enter your passcode
  5. Once the reset is finished, pair it to your new device

The pairing process doesn’t start

If the camera doesn’t start the process, you’ll have to pair up the devices manually. Choose Pair Apple Watch Manually at the bottom of the iPhone screen and follow the on-screen instructions.

How do I pair with a different Apple Watch?

If you have more than one Apple Watch and your iPhone is connecting to the wrong one, choose the Apple Watch you want to pair through the app. Follow these steps:

  • Open the Apple Watch App on your iPhone
  • Choose My Watch and then All Watches
  • Make sure to turn off Auto Switch

Double-check your iPhone is connected to the correct Apple Watch by holding down the bottom of the Apple Watch screen and swipe for the Control Center. Make sure the Connected status icon is next to the Apple Watch you originally wanted to pair.
