One of the most important things to do before selling an Android phone is backing up your data. It’s possible to backup your entire phone to your Google Account in an easy to follow process.

- Call history
- Contacts
- Photos and videos

- Go to Settings
- Tap Accounts and then Google
- Select your Google account
- Check the things you want to sync to your Google account.
How to backup can vary between Android phones. The Google Pixel for example has a “Back up to Google Drive” function.
Remove Samsung account
If you own a Samsung, you’ll likely have a Samsung account on it where your files get backed up to. It’s in your best interest to remove your Samsung account before sending your phone, here’s how:
- Go to Settings
- Tap Accounts and backup.
- Tap Manage accounts and select your Samsung account.
- Tap Remove account and follow the instructions
- Tap Sign out. Enter your Samsung account password, and then tap OK to fully and finally remove the account from your device.
