I had the satisfaction of working with two other song writers and 19 other musicians on this compilation of eight original songs and two traditional Christmas songs. My goal was to capture, in some fresh ways, the wonder and meaning of Christmas. I invited about 20 musicians to a listening party and gave them each a booklet with the song lyrics and space to write. I played thru each of the songs, mostly just with guitar and solo vocal. I asked them to write, not talk about what they heard. I then complied their ideas and the hunt for muscians to pull off the ideas I distilled from those booklets began. I took it slowly and prayerfully and to my delight, some amazing muscians agreed to add their ingredients to the soup. What a tapestry they helped me create, each with their own thread--you'll see. This is definately not a CD where you're going to be able to say 'We'll, if you've heard one song on this CD you've pretty much heard them all.' The styles are varied, the lead vocal changes, and it should just keep you wondering what will come next. At the same time, there is a singlar theme, exploring the meaning of the birth and life of Jesus, from the perspectives of historical characters who would have met him, and from the perspective of someone in our time who's been equally impacted by him. Get a cup of hot apple cider, turn the lights down low, light a candle or the turn on the Christmas tree, and soak up the music and the message in this collaborative work in the spirit of Christmas.
