Dave Shapiro was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, just down the road from the atom smasher. Some people think the effects of neonatal radiation can show up many years later, but Dave\'s debut CD, Love & Gasoline, is proof that a few loose gamma rays can produce wonders, especially, when fused with his childhood memories of Hank Williams, the Everly Brothers, Merle Travis and Johnny Cash. Now, with the release of his self-produced CD, Love & Gasoline, Dave has returned to his roots with an album featuring his wry and poignant songwriting, and some of NYC\'s best musicians (and friends) including Kenny Kosek, Barry Mitterhoff, Mike Levine, Pete Vitalone, Sam McPherson, Jim Kendrick, Nicole Paradiso and Eric Troyer. Oh, and by the way, Dave co-wrote and produced the iconic jazz-tinged theme music for the Charlie Rose show, heard every weeknight on PBS.
