Formed in 2000, through friendships forged around Salt Lake City's Kilby Court DIY music & art scene, The New Transit Direction began with modest goals: To write dynamic rock songs in the vein of Jawbreaker, Burning Airlines, & Jawbox, & to express these songs in honest ways through both emotive live shows & the best recordings possible. Then, get in the van & turn on the rest of the world. They've been following that steady diet of write, record & tour for the past two years. Produced & mixed by Jon Congleton (90 Day Men, the Paper Chase), the bulk of their debut album was recorded at the Shed Studios in Manhattan, with a Neve board that once belonged to Kinks front man Ray Davies. "Wonderful Defense Mechanisms" is an album of dynamic rock anthems & ballads.
