2008 release, the first time on CD for this classic album from the Soul singer. Doris Duke set the charts alight with her 1970 crossover R&B/Pop hit 'To the Other Woman' on Canyon Records. Her LPs I'm a Loser (1970) and a Legend in Her Own Time (1971) brought critical acclaim and 'Soul diva' status, particularly among UK fans, and during a 1974 trip to England, Doris signed with Contempo Records, owned by Blues & Soul magazine editor John Abbey. The resultant LP of songs chosen by Doris and John proved that quality Soul music could be produced in a London studio, and she delivers a stunning performance in a range of styles. This album has become a collector's item over the years. Shout.
