Covington & Covington - Wake & See

While an art student at UCLA, David Covington helped to found the Salt Company, a musical ministry in the hip Hollywood of the late '60s. He married Sharon in 1970 and they continued to make music in LA, then moved to the rural northern Sierras where they homesteaded and raised two stellar kids. David continued to write, and Covington & Covington performed in local venues, churches, and singing and speaking for conferences. From '86 through '93 Covington & Covington toured extensively throughout the US and some overseas. Always passionate students of Scripture, and wanting a sounder basis for the writing and speaking they were increasingly called upon to do, they made their way to Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. There Sharon completed a Masters in Religion, specializing in Biblical Counseling. David pursued graduate studies in theology, cultural apologetics and biblical counseling, earning an M.Div., a Th.M. in Apologetics, and a D.Min. In Biblical Counseling. On returning to their home in the Sierras, they began serving their church as teachers and counselors, and teaching at the local community college. David and Sharon now serve the Trinity Forum Academy on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, David as Academic Coordinator and Sharon as Director of Community Life for a graduate Fellows program. David continues as a singer/songwriter, guitarist, and theologian, working primarily in biblical aesthetics. They have a long and delightful marriage, a daughter and a son, both well married, and seven outrageously fun grandchildren--and one on the way! David's writing bears the marks of a long love of Scripture and it's hero, Jesus. Years of performance experience and work with people, informed by graduate theological studies, are woven together with deep and warmly intimate relationships forming the bedrock of Covington & Covington work. The mix fosters a rich and real music. Diverse musical styles range from blues to folk to country to classical. Covington & Covington perform for children, for fun, for romance, for worship-for all that might please the King. Wake and See, songs for children and families, brings together 21 original songs, 8 of which are sung with a rousing chorus of grandchildren. David and Sharon have been writing and performing Christian music since the sixties; they sang in early Jesus Movement groups in southern California-the Salt Company and the Quartet-then formed a duo, touring the US through the eighties and early nineties, releasing three recordings: Covington & Covington ('86), Living Legend ('89), and Milkweed ('90).
