As their self-titled debut album bears out, UTIOG.s funk-inflected, hook-saturated pop-soul is a combination of the Talking Heads. African poly-rhythmic groove (.Ahha,..Got Nothing..), the ethereal falsettos of Michael Jackson and Prince (.Mama. S Room.), and the blue-eyed R&B of Hall & Oates and George Michael (.In the Clouds.). Produced by former Blind Melon members Brad Smith and Christopher Thorne, the debut album from Under the Influence of Giants is a truly captivating and refreshing blend of rock, soul, and funk, that uniquely channels the influences listed above with a distinct style and energy.
