Turning Point is Jim's best work to date. The cut 'Into The Storm' climbed into the top 40 of the National Smooth Jazz charts and spent several weeks there. This project was produced by smooth jazz staple Ken Navarro and features some of the best musicians in the country. Jim is an award winning songwriter/guitarist. His most notable award was placing 2nd in the International BILLBOARD SONG CONTEST in jazz. He also won nine awards for compositions in a Va. Based contest V.O.C.A.L. Starting out as a rock style guitarist, his love for smooth jazz developed later when he heard guitarists such as Larry Carlton, Lee Rittenour and George Benson just to name a few. Since then he has been on a musical path releasing three cds in that genre. His guitar style is evident of rock, country, pop and jazz. REVIEWS OF JIM'S MUSIC 1. ' Adkins playing is clean and flawless. You can tell this guy knows how to write for the 'smooth jazz' genre. Jeff Charney, Contemporary Jazz.com 2. 'Adkins inspired guitar melodies are felt thoughout, providing a musical backdrop of warm winds and gentle showers of the South'. Elaine Washington, Jazz Review.com 3. 'Adkins has a flair for bright and memorable guitar melodies, this is great music for turning off the world and letting some relaxation in' Brian Soergel, Smoothvibes.com.
