Tribute: Past • Present • Future with Adam Workman, flute Susan Summerfield, organ Jermone Monachino, guitar Brian Clague, violin/viola ------------------------------------ A Note About the Project Just beyond the notes, rhythms, harmonies, and academia, music, like life, is about movement through time and what happens during it's course. Taking participants from one point to another, at it's deepest level, music to me, is about the human experience - our journey, our tears, our love, and our laughter. It allows us to tell and to revisit our unique stories, dreams, and various inspirations, while also affording us the magical opportunity to witness those of others. With each note I play, I am reminded of how each of us continues to be profoundly influenced by the many different people in our lives, as we in turn influence those around us. As role models, parents, children, teachers, friends, mentors, and colleagues of one another, the power and scope of our reach should never be underestimated. A long time in it's generation, this recording is a compilation of favorite music from my musical youth. It is my humble tribute to the countless human experiences that have come before, those that are happening now, and all of those that have yet to come. Past, Present, and Future. Enjoy. - Adam Workman • 2009 • Boston, MA ------------------------------------ Originally from Vergennes, Vermont, flutist Adam Workman graduated from the Boston University College of Fine Arts where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Flute Performance. During his college career he had the good fortune to study with some of the finest flutists teaching today. In this capacity, his primary influences include Marianne Gedigian, Jacques Zoon, James Walker, and Linda Toote. Additional influences include Louis Moyse, Steven Finley, and Paula Robison. In addition to orchestral, chamber, and solo performances throughout New England, Mr. Workman has appeared at the Hampden-Sydney Chamber Music Festival, the Flynn Theater, the Lake Placid International Institute, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and on Vermont Public Radio. He can also be heard performing with Boston-based chamber groups including the Commonwealth Chamber Players and the Fensgate Chamber Players. As a private flute instructor, Mr. Workman has taught flute in Vermont, Boston, and Los Angeles, and has also presented flute master classes for the Music Education Division of the Boston University College of Fine Arts. Currently he maintains a private studio in the Greater Boston Community.
