From their obscure beginnings in industrial Cleveland, Pere Ubu went on to become pioneers of the '70's avant-garde punk rock scene. Led by David Thomas, Pere Ubu combined the raw musical energies of Iggy & the Stooges and Captain Beefheart, and the result was a mixture of control and anarchy that remains influential even today. Their debut album, the Modern Dance (which originally premiered in 1978), now makes it's long overdue 1st appearance on CD.
