Since the early 1980s, 10,000 Maniacs have crafted smart, subtle songs that fused funk and folk edgy guitar and atmospheric keyboards to shimmering melodies and affecting lyrics. When Merchant departed for a solo career 10,000 Maniacs sought to continue their legacy and blaze new trails. Founding member John Lombardo (a key songwriter during their early years) returned to the fold along with singer-violinist Mary Ramsey. The new line up recorded the Geffen album Love Among the Ruins in 1997. The Earth Pressed Plat is their first album for Bar/None and we're happy to follow them right to the edge.
