The Duke Ellington Legacy - Thank You Uncle Edward

The Duke Ellington Legacy is a 9-piece group featuring Duke Ellington's first-born grandson and namesake, Edward Kennedy Ellington II, guitar; Norman Simmons, piano & chief arranger, Nancy Reed, vocalist; Virginia Mayhew, tenor saxophonist/arranger. "Thank You Uncle Edward", the band's debut CD, features 10 compositions in new arrangements by Norman Simmons, and special guests Joe Temperley on baritone saxophone and bass clarinet and Wycliffe Gordon on trombone. This is the only Ellington band now in existence that features a vocalist, the wonderful Nancy Reed.
