North Texas band Loda Dimes has released their debut album "Ten Cent Instant Rebate." Compact disc copies display the reason behind the album's name - an actual dime attached to the packaging. Fans can purchase the physical CD via CD Baby and downloading options include multiple outlets, among them iTunes. The band bills Ten Cent Instant Rebate as "the best value in music," according to drummer Kevin Rothstein. "You've got twelve songs, and they explore several different genres," he said. "Plus you receive cash back with every CD. The customer basically gets recession-proof entertainment." Loda Dimes also features guitarist Dean Pauley and bass guitarist/vocalist Rush Olson. Rothstein produced the album in his personal studio, with editing provided by band manager Dave French. Roy Machado mastered the record at Dallas Audio Post Group. The album opens with the country song "I Got Drinkin' To Do," followed by the power pop "Come On Superman," with Texas blues, punk, and acoustic styles also represented in the track assortment. Songs about murder and heartbreak intermix with more lighthearted fare like "I Told My Friends You Were Ugly." The band considers versatility an asset in the modern music climate. "Some song ideas suggest themselves better to different styles, and, like many musicians, we like lots of different kinds of music," said Pauley. "Digital downloading has made the single musically influential again and offering a varied repertoire positions us to take advantage of opportunities with diverse listener groups."
