'If you ask me, and who else could you ask, really? The Holy Trinity of Super Rock is Cracktorch, the Lanternjack and Cookie. End of fuckin' story, citizen. But while the other two play 70's fueled power rock and dive bombing sleaze metal respectively, Cookie lay on plenty of both and slather a healthy serving of raunchy honky tonk over the whole mess like lumpy gravy, as well. Sabrina RockArena belts out her tales of whiskey and sin like an innocent, wide eyed country crooner that was waylaid by evil punk and rollers and found that she actually liked slutty guitars and songs about fucking, so she stayed, dyed her hair blue, and joined the party. I first heard an advance of 'Sweat Soaked and Satisfied' last summer when my day job consisted of cruising around town in brand new convertibles, and every single time I had it blasting in the mean machine, somebody would ask me what this amazing band I was listening to was. I always told them Motley Crue for safety's sake. You, I'm telling the truth to. If you dig the Supersuckers or Elvis Presley, you're gonna dig Cookie. If you're into Kris Kristofferson or the New York Loose, you're gonna adore Cookie. If AC/DC, Johnny Cash, Tex and the Horseheads, Joan Jett, Eddie Cochran, fuck, if you dig rock and roll in any form (not to mention sex, cars, and dancin'), then you are going to fall madly in love with Cookie, I guarantee it.' Ken McIntyre, The Sleazegrinder 'Highway Star' is one of the best covers I've heard since Antiseen's cover of 'Hellstomper. ' If you like driving guitars, sexy female vocals, pumping bass lines and powerful drums, then you'll love this CD. Plus, how can anyone hate a band that gives props to all the twenty dollar hookers of the world.' Zero Magazine, Jason Pepe 'Do you hate people who say 'You go, girl'? Spit on insecure femmes who talk about their inner goddesses? Have you been yearning for the sonic equivalent of a shot of adrenaline straight into the heart? But from a tough-ass rocker-chick front woman instead of a greasy guy? Me, too. This CD (Sweat Soaked and Satisfied) holds the answers.' 3.5 out of 4 Jane Magazine, Esther Haynes 'Cookie, the trio from Seattle, has restored my faith in the local music scene. No... Really. Their new CD 'Sweat Soaked & Satisfied' is that fucking good! Ranging from balls out rockers, heartfelt rockabilly ballads and punk rawk, there is more variety and fun here than most bands put out in a career. I could go on and on about how great this CD is, but know one thing: I get a lot of music for review and rarely does a CD actually stay in my player for more than a week... Cookie's 'Sweat Soaked & Satisfied' is a sweet surprise that is moving into my permanent collection and hopefully yours soon. Don't let it pass ya by...' Rating 10/10 New Digital Reporter, Jason Lindsey, Editor 'If there are people so caught up in pop-cultural studies pretense they've lost track of rock's gritty roots, Cookie's ready to kick them in the teeth to make them pay for their oversight. While Sweat Soaked & Satisfied doesn't aspire to be anything more than a gin-soaked slab of bar rock, Cookie's at least got it's sites locked on it's junk-rock goals: There's nothing but the loudest, most-guttural rock 'n roll from this trio. Of course, led by rock siren Sabrina RockArena, who's got the pipes to be a power-pop crooner if she didn't have such a predilection toward cigarettes and cheap booze, Sweat Soaked & Satisfied comes off as a well-polished slab of junk. Don't worry, rockers - that Polish only goes as far as RockArena's vocal tracks. Joined by the equally ludicrously named Jayme Layme (guitar) and Tommy Sparks (drums), RockArena moves through the Dolls-inspired rock with an over-the-top glee that's hard to find. From gutsy tunes that complain about burning the candle at both ends, though never seeming to regret the decision ('Bad For Me') to those that simply lay down the rock as if they're in league with the spirits of Bonn Scott, Johnny Thunders and Stiv Bators ('Double Shot'), the members of Cookie seem to have been born and raised in rock 'n roll clubs. They've also got no intention to ever move away. Aversion.com '70's style hard rock with a twist of sleaze, from Seattle. With Seattle being the accepted home of grunge, it's nice to hear something decidedly more upbeat coming out of the rainy city. Cookie are a female-fronted outfit that combine driving retro rock (Deep Purple's 'Highway Star' is covered here) with a more contemporary garage sound. . . 'Sweat Soaked & Satisfied' is a likeable album.' 3 out of 5 KERRANG Magazine!, Brett Callwood 'HAVE ANOTHER COOKIE: One of our favorite 'finds' of last year was All Hell Can't Stop Us by West Coast punkers Cookie (Continental Drift, July 26, 2001). The set was a thoroughly satisfying collection that combined raucous power chords with good-humored lyrics and a future star in front woman Sabrina RockArena - a charismatic belter whose voice conjures fond images of Deborah Harry and Patsy Cline. With the spankin' new Sweat Soaked & Satisfied, the band comes on stronger and more creatively focused. Nearly every song here has a sharply drawn chorus and a melody that permanently sticks to the brain upon impact. There's lots here for college and modern rock radio programmers to grab onto - and, needless to say, this is a wise option for A&R execs to explore.' Billboard Magazine, Senior Editor, Larry Flick 'Two and three minute blasts of high-energy punk rock . . . The thick and crunchy guitars mixed with the gang backing vocals remind me a bit of Bad Religion, especially on the first track of the album. Though Bad Religion seems to lean more towards the pop side while Cookie dives head first into the metal (think Motorhead not Poison) side. There is definitely a love of 70's hard rock among the trio as demonstrated by the cover of Deep Purple's 1972 hit 'Highway Star.' 'Double Shot' showcases the band's rockabilly tendencies . . . '
