Stephen Clarke was born in Houston, Texas where he first picked up a guitar at age 11. He soon began playing in bands and writing his own score and lyrics. At eighteen he moved to Austin where he attended College. He started playing the Austin scene with another talented singer/songwriter and they soon became a dominant force in drawing young crowds around town. Stephen slowly began tuning and maturing his voice into one of the most unique and recognizable around. His songs became locally famous, mixing the folk and alternative rock sounds of his favorite bands. Stephen soon began performing on his own, writing and playing solo at parties, but mostly focusing on his songwriting and tuning his abilities through his English major. Stephen graduated with an undergraduate degree in liberal arts from the University of Texas at Austin in 1999. Stephen quickly moved to Los Angeles seeking to have his music appreciated by more than just his Texas following. From the success of the demo and his live shows, Stephen has captured many fans and caught the eye of the Music Industry. Stephen signed on with Kaleidoscope Entertainment and has recently received an Artist Deal from Talyor Guitars. Stephen is 25 and is currently doing solo shows and playing with his band under his own name and can be caught playing various venues in the Los Angeles area, headlining at such clubs as The Mint, Genghis Cohen and The Gig on Melrose Avenue. He plans to return to Texas this fall for a southern tour in support of his self-titled debut album that will be released in January 2003. Stephen will be co-producing the album with Tom Banghart who has worked with everyone from Don Henley and Rufus Wainright to 'The Wallflowers.' Look for his 2003 tour coming to a town near you and his self-titled debut album. Stephen is determined to take his music into the hands of the nation and ultimately across the globe with his ceaseless perseverance, unique songwriting and dominant voice.
