Recloose - Spelunking

About this title: On his second EP as Recloose, Spelunking, Matt Chicoine fulfills the promise he'd unveiled on his quirky debut, So This Is the Dining Room (1998). Over the course of only four tracks (five on the CD release), the gifted producer brings together a mélange of jazzy beats and dubby basslines into swirling broken beat tracks that draw from the same fount, more or less, yet each uphold a distinctive air. Every track here is a highlight, and by the end of this EP, you're left hungry for more -- a full-length helping, in fact. An impressive stride forward for Chicoine this second EP of his is, and a standout release by Carl Craig's Planet E label as well. Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide.
