My style has been described as 'smooth and steady. Easy on the ears.' These are Ballads of love and life and they are set on the great Oceans. I love to tell the stories of historical events through song. I am primarily a guitar-playing storyteller with a passion for searching out those events that have shaped us. Original songs, songs of the British Isles and the music of a struggling young America pretty much sums it up. I am often backed by a fabulous violin and mandolin, with occasional simple percussion and haunting backup voices. This album is all about the Sea-going aspects of our successes and failures as we 'land creatures' have dared to venture onto and across the great unknown and forbidding Seas to new lands. I write about the 'true' and the 'almost true' and I freely sample the fabulous traditional song-lore of the seafaring past where we all share deep roots.
