It's a Sunday night around 8 pm and the various members of the Guitarros Brothers are wandering in for their weekly gig. The Brothers have had a regular gig at SAMMY'S every Sunday night for the last 10 years. SAMMY'S is a jazz & folk dive in Austin,Texas - on the south side of town - serving the best barbeque I've ever tasted. I first saw the Brothers about 7 years ago, their blend of catchy pop tunes mixed with classic singer/songwriter influences caught my ear and I've been a devoted fan ever since. Sadly, they've been through about a dozen lead singers since then - including a brief two week stint when Joe Cocker was staying in town and insisted that he front the band (until his manager stepped in to cart him back to LA). Currently the band is once again without a frontman, so they've decided to forge ahead and record a CD of their standards done instrumentally. All the tunes I've heard tonight in the club and so many times before are here: the ballads 'Post Office Of Our Love' and 'Worlds Biggest Talker', rockers like 'Hammer' and 'Alaska' and old standbys such as 'Cool Cool Drink' and 'Let You Down'. It's hard to say what attracts me about the Brothers Guitarros - perhaps the smooth way they pick those 6 strings be it electric or acoustic or those memorable melodies I just can't get out of my head. No wonder, no less a legend than Bernie Taupin (Elton John's long time lyricist) counts himself as a fan. By midnight at SAMMY'S the music is winding down and the last food orders are being taken. I'm afraid, it's time for me to go. However, these 15 tunes will remain in your mind long after the CD is finished and don't be afraid to hit the repeat button, I know I can't get enough of their love.............
