Silverback is David Young's second studio album, following his critically acclaimed Appassionata. Young's brilliant sound, unique compositions and engaging live performances have earned him the praise of critics and fans alike. The Chicago Tribune says "only in live performance is it possible to fully perceive the young man's emotional maturity, charismatic manner and technical acuity. In contemporary classical repertoire, his playing often sounds more lyrical and emotionally charged than one might expect to hear; in jazz, he produces a surprisingly vast range of unusual colors, shades and half-shades." Young has performed in over a dozen countries, working with several artists including Nicole Mitchell's Black Earth Ensemble, Lauryn Hill, Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, Michael Miles, and Umphreys McGee. Silverback features Memphis born, Austin based Jazz/R&B singer James Robinson (Temple Underground) as well as an all star Chicago based band: Justin Dillard (Black Ensemble Theatre, Black Earth Ensemble) on Hammond Organ, piano, keyboard, Patrick Mulcahy (District 97) on bass, Steve Ramsdell on guitar, Marcus Evans (Black Earth Ensemble) on Drums and Dennis Winslett on alto and soprano saxophone. The album is engineered by Jim Reeves (Gregg Allman, ZZ Top, Lou Reed, George Harrison, Bob Dylan).
