With this album The Old World Carolers celebrates 25 years of singing from 1985 to 2010. Most of these songs are well-loved in their home countries but less known in the US. Our mission is the keep these great old songs alive in homes and communities. They help perpetuate the many facets of European holiday traditions that are part of our American culture's--and the world's--melting pot. Here are songs from Sweden, Spain, France, Germany, England, Bohemia, and Ukraine, a small sampling of hundreds of songs sung in our group. These recordings are mostly from live concerts, complete with coughs and applause, along with plenty of spirit. The Old World Carolers sings for good causes during the midwinter holiday season in California's North Bay area for concerts and special events relating to certain countries, traditions, periods, and languages. We are constantly researching and arranging old songs for our repertoire with an eye to melodies that are hummable, that can be sung easily in families, and without adding 'corn and cheese.'
