Taking their name from Cape Tarifa, the southern tip of Spain and the closest point to Africa, this 9-piece band was the creation of percussionist Fain Sanchez Duenas. Specializing in a unique brand of "medieval Arabic flamenco," and reflecting their international personnel, the band combines early traditional instrumentation (Greek bouzouki, Arabic ney flute), modern instruments (sax, winds, bass) and percussion for a sound that has become a U.K. critical favorite, earning them a place on "The Independent's Top 20 of 1996."
