2008 marked our fifth concert at The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston. And what a concert it was. When you play the music of Richard Rodgers, you get a double whammy: Rodgers and Hart & Rodgers and Hammerstein. Both teams bristled with amazing music. When Richard Rodgers wrote with Lorenz Hart, he wrote the music before Hart would write a single word. When he wrote with Hammerstein, the lyrics were all written before Rodgers would write the music. Either combination spelled success! I came very close to meeting Mr. Rodgers in the 70s, but he had to cancel our meeting due to illness. After playing all of this incredible music, now I feel as if I have met him. Gorgeous melodies, beautiful harmonies, and, of course, that feeling of 'I've always known that song' with every single piece. Turn up your speakers and enjoy the Rob Landes Trio playing the music of Richard Rodgers. You'll know every tune! Rob.
