Shanika Nicole Anderson is a twenty-four year old singer and songwriter from New York. Since the age of three years old, she has been singing in church. Her ministry also extends to various events such as concerts, banquets, musicals, funerals, weddings, and other special events. She played a lead role in the play, "I Can See with the Lights Out" at the Apollo Theatre. Shanika has been writing songs since she was twelve years old. Shanika sings contemporary gospel music. Her writing style has been compared to the likes of Fred Hammond. She uses her music to both encourage and admonish the Body of Christ. She has written songs about worry, struggling with and overcoming sin, dealing with emotions, and just life in general. Her songs encourage listeners to trust in the promises of God and to hold on to them. Shanika uses lots of imagery and metaphors in her song writing, such as in her song "Rest on my Promises" where she compares worrying to "chasing the wind." Shanika's vocal style has been compared to artist such as Joann Rosario, Brandi and CeCe Winans. She sings with the anointing, power and passion.
