There aren't many bands today that combine blazing metal riffs with controversially political lyrics. But, Purified in Blood do just that. Forming in 2003 on the West Coast of Norway, these dedicated vegan straight edge kids are to credit for the growing music scene in that region. Pure, unabashed, metal influenced hardcore is what you get with this band, as the members' first introduction to heavy music came via Iron Maiden and Slayer. Eventually discovering hardcore, the band's purpose became clear. Purified in Blood's lyrics and agenda involves matters such as human/animal liberation, anti-capitalism, third world conditions, and other important issues that highly require the world's attention. One might say that the band's innovative concept of metal with a message is something akin to Emperor meets Earth Crisis. A lot has happened in the last year for Purified in Blood. The band has already completed two U.S. tours in support of the 2003's "Last Leaves of a Poisoned Tree" EP on New Eden Records, and regularly tour Scandinavia and Europe. Boasting six members with a dual lead vocalist and twin guitar attack, Purified in Blood has become known for it's high energy live performances. In fact, the band won Norway's national underground music contest for unsigned bands (ZOOM) in 2004, and more recently, the award for Best Live Act at Norway's prestigious Alarm Awards 2006. Now armed with an incendiary full-length album, Reaper of Souls, the band is more than prepared to expand it's mission to the rest of the world. With the goal of dedicating half of the year to touring in the U.S., and an unwavering work ethic, Purified in Blood is determined to make it's mark in America.
