European dance music and light music fans came to know Werner Muller from his many years as director of two of the leading radio orchestras in Germany. From 1948 to 1967 he led the Tanz Orchester for the station RIAS (Radio in American Sector) Berlin. While with RIAS he became associated with Caterina Valente, accompanying her on many broadcasts and recordings. Werner Muller recorded many albums of national tunes, some released under the name of Ricardo Santos in Europe but under his own name in the USA. In 1967 Muller was invited to lead the WDR Tanz Orchester of Cologne. This orchestra broadcast a wide variety of music. The recordings on this CD reflect the swinging, dancing style of Werner Muller's mid 1950's band.
