Pale Morning Dawn: the bio brothers have always played a significant role in rock \'n\' rock music -- and there\'s a reason for that. Having a lifelong bond with a band mate allows for a certain continuity that could only be founded in blood. It lays the grounds for an inherent understanding of musical songcrafting. It means lasting cohesion and fraternal creativity -- and allows for some ear-pleasing harmonies. Pale Morning Dawn is brothers ryan (guitar/vocals) and lance farkas (vocal/bass) and longtime friend bill zembiak (drums/percussion). \'we love creating and playing tasteful music,\' says lance from this calgary-based pop-rock trio. After forming over five years ago, pmd has been working hard songcrafting in dark basements, sky-scraping apartments and in the mountains. \'different scenescapes allow for different soundscapes,\' notes lance. \'where you are in life, physically and literally, really influences what you write about. \' and you can hear it in their music. Each track varies from melancholic anthems to tightly wound rock numbers to laid-back ballads -- something the band prefers to do. \'we don\'t want every song to blend into the next - we want each to have their own character and speak for themselves,\' says bill. After deciding on which songs to include on their first ep, pmd recorded at sundae sound with dave alcock (reverie sound revue, mico, hot little rocket) behind the board in may 2003. After a five-day fury of recording sessions, a near bout of laryngitis and one near-24 hour day spent mixing, the band came out of the studio with something they were proud of. Their self-titled effort was ready to be reproduced and released. From here the band strives to play more live shows in calgary and venture out into other centers in Canada and USA. With a tight set, skillful musicianship and energetic stage presence, it is only a matter of time before the trio takes the song to the masses. As the band moves forward, with each step articulated, there is no sense of immediate urgency. 'We're brothers' says ryan. 'we're always going to be and we've always made and play music together and we will continue in the future. Pmd is not going away anytime soon. ' \'we\'re in no rush to go or do anything right now except keep playing our songs,\' adds lance. \'the music is what keeps us together and striving for more. We love playing and we\'re happy to be doing it for the three of us and for our fans. \'
