With humour-driven lyrics, swinging acoustic string virtuosity and hot vocal harmonies, these former members of the award-winning roots group "Tanglefoot" are tighter than last year's swimsuit! When Sandra Swannell recorded with Canada's legendary Stompin' Tom Connors in 2005, she was in the middle of writing a suite of musical sketches for string orchestra. After years of juggling the folk world with classical (former principal violist of the Georgian Bay Symphony), she finally grabbed her fiddle and jumped the fence into the roots music world for good. Terry Young's dexterity and aggressive approach to finger-style guitar is described as "virtuosic" by BBC critic James Harrox, and "jaw dropping" by FAME's Mark S. Tucker. Together they have created a vibrant new identity for themselves with their unique concoction of "countrified jazz". It's an old-fashioned shotgun wedding of acoustic swing and Canadian rural roots.
