This is the third CD from Belle Starr, a rock 'n roll/country-folk pop band named after the 1860s outlaw from Missouri. Based in St. Louis (and voted Top Country Band there), the band formed five years ago by lead singers Lynne Reif and Kip Loui who both shared the influences of Buffalo Springfield, CCR, the Byrds and other country/rock groups. This new CD of roots-based Americana rock and pop is a memorable collection of songs full of what makes new music turn to "classic" - universal emotions and settings with pop hooks and an unassuming countrified attitude. The unaffected blend of male and female vocals make this a refreshing "heartland" spin.
