'Isbister's guitar work separates her from the bulk of folk performers.' -Eric Stracener, Jackson Free Press Laurel Isbister wants to touch the world and God at the same time. Her intrinsic curiousity gets her going in some unusual directions, and she has always been one to investigate the unheard voices. For example, she lived in a 5,000 year old city in the Balkans for a year to study music. Some (including her Dad and many natives of Bulgaria where she lived) questioned her desire to study in such a beleagured landscape. To Laurel that music was a pure source of inspiration. Not long after leaving the Balkans Laurel went to Los Angeles and was tutored in various forms of world music. In 2003 she returned to the South and now lives in Jackson, Mississippi. This disc has received kudos for it's excellent recording quality. Recorded by former Sopwith Camel musician Terry MacNeil (now called Nandi Devam) in Oakland, California. Released in Jackson, Mississippi. Dedicated to Laurel's maternal and incredibly strong grandmother, Nona Mae Prichard, a loving world traveler and entrepreneur.
