Mouse and Lion springs from influences as varied as Taj Mahal, Bonnie Raitt, Pete Seeger, Doc Watson, and Leo Kottke. Classic Aesop Fables are rendered with acoustic fingerstyle guitar and brilliantly embellished with slide guitar and fretless bass by Andrea Mattei of Rome. It was recorded with great spontaneity at the Trick Studios in Tivoli, near Rome, under Andrea's brilliant direction. The result is a sparkling and sometimes profound series of songs about the deep things in life: disobedient frogs, country and city mice, grasshoppers and ants, and domineering mothers of crabs.
