Moonology first disc in the 'moonroom' series by Brad Parker this is an album of poetry set to a hip, mellow and sophisticated groove. It's a romantic rap for the wee hours of the morning with the lights down low. It follows the cycle of romance as the phases of the moon; kind of like Jack Kerouac meets Barry White with music by Aaron Copland and the Chemical Brothers. It's a conceptual piece with each track standing on it's' own as well; a little James Joyce, a little Marvin Gaye; an ancient method put to a modern beat. From the artist 'moonology' is my first work in the series 'moonroom'. i wanted to do something for this disc that would be totally different from all other recordings of my music. The album description tells you where i was going directionally and what my sources were. I went out there as far as i could get format or genre-wise. The 'moonroom' series will explore new possibilities for creating music with electronic and acoustic instruments as well as singing and spoken lyrics. I believe that rock music, like classical and jazz before it, will grow from pop to fine art. I want to inspire other creators to stretch the limits of what contemporary music can and should do and where it will go. reviews Music Connection Magazine, Los Angeles, USA, Dec. 2001 accomplished songwriter Brad Parker dares to be different..... a lunar song-cycle using earth's glowing, celestial orb for inspiration........ Music Connection Magazine, Los Angeles, USA, Oct. 2001 delivered in soulful intimate half-spoken vocals...... Parker achieves a misty, oceanic lonesomeness........ Riozen Records moonology by Brad Parker Reviews by fans Incredible Ambient, August 15, 2002 Reviewer: A music fan from CA United States, first, allow me to ask, who is pbp? A euro dj who's spun some cool riffs? A modern beat who's been around the block? A little of both perhaps. And who needs Nautilus, LCD, and Dirty Vegas anyway? This recording takes you on an audio journey of the meandering mind vs. The sensual inner being. Listen to Metropolis on KCRW in Los Angeles and you'll be hard pressed to find a piece with such insight into the muscle in our chest that seems to guide us, even against our better judgment. It just goes to show, once again, that the independents are putting out more deeply felt tunes than anything on Pop Goes the Weasel Radio. By the way, it's also great to groove to in the dark, moon or no moon. Female perspective, September 2, 2002 Reviewer: A music fan from Sherman Oaks, Ca. United States I wake up to this CD. I have it set in my CD/Alarm clock. The melodic slow rhythmic sounds are what I like about it. I wake up softly on a moonlight ride. The singer definitely has a Barry White feel and knows what to say to a woman! Very passionate and different. He speaks most of the lyrics yet you can hear a voice singing in the background. Great to lay in bed and go to sleep to. . . . . or not. Smooth, September 3, 2002 Reviewer: A music fan from New York, United States This CD is a smooth experience. Romance from a guy's point of view. Very modern and classic at the same time. I recommend this disc to all women so they can better understand what we're going through. Beautiful work., September 25, 2002 Reviewer: Gab Farah from Lebanon, I preferred to rate on 'Moonology' after giving myself more time to listen to this beautiful work. U really can listen and enjoy it whenever a 'moon' is there...Then U can feel what Brad Parker felt and wrote... Beautiful work. Riozen Records.
