The Zombie EP collects five of James Braddell's more soundtrack slanted recordings, three of which are remixes of '70s-era horror film soundtracker Jerry Van Rooyen's work. These tracks are all in familiar territory for Funki Porcini fans; the blueprint is earthy breaks (often tipping from trip-hop to jungle to jazz and back again) with a cavalcade of samples -- vocals from desperate, soon-to-be victims, plus a lot of brass, vibes, and drum breaks. "Flesh Carpet," the finale, sweeps in with a delicious, surprisingly laidback atmosphere, but most of this EP is a trip-hop retread for Funki Porcini. ~ John Bush
