Essential Jazz Class

The complete classic album Clifford Brown with Strings, one of the most lyrical albums in the trumpeter's career and an indisputable Jazz classic featuring six bonus ballads taken from different 1953 sessions in New York and in Paris. Everyone who knew him agreed that Clifford was a very friendly, humble and sweet person. Many of his recordings show him full of fire and intensity. The sweetness of his character is probably best reflected in his ballad playing, and the sole album he made with a string orchestra conducted by Neal Hefti in 1955 has also become a classic Jazz recording. Brownie's album stands for itself and rejects any comparison. His voice on the horn is completely unmistakable and after we hear the first notes of his solo on 'Portrait of Jenny', we feel immersed in a musical dream that demands repeated listening. Max Roach, Richie Powell and George Morrow (the bassist of the celebrated Max Roach-Clifford Brown Quintet) are also present here. Essential Jazz.
