Vulgaria is a power-pop quartet out of Baltimore, Maryland. Kurt Deemer writes the songs, plays guitar, and sings. John Christensen (guitar), Steve Rose (drums), and Kris Maher (bass) complete the lineup. In 1999 the band released their first full-length CD. The self-titled disc introduced you into the world of Vulgaria, where songs of restlessness, frustration, and overriding triumph were delivered with hard-driving aplomb. 'Throughout the 10-song self-titled debut lies a melodic manifestation of germinating choruses and guitars whose amplifiers sit someplace between an arena and a garage, blending a big sound with a raw quality.' ALTAR NATIVE (MIAMI) 'Seattle meets London...And while you're at it, toss in a bit of Replacements, with a hint of Cracker. The end result is a power pop disc that grows with repeated listenings...the boys pull it off, and do it well.' NEW YORK ROCK Vulgaria's sophomore release 'Weight of the World' builds on the themes of the first disc, adding a broader range of production to the band's powerful guitar sound. The result is an accessible 11-song CD packed with Vulgaria's trademark singer-songwriter integrity and hard-driving energy.
