When singer Greg Attonito is not touring with his punk band Bouncing Souls, he's rockin' out another demographic, (kids) with the larger than life energy of Play Date. Alongside his wife Shanti Wintergate, the duo pairs crunching guitars and searing rhythms with themes like using one's imagination and healthy eating. It's a fun mix that avoids talking down to kids; instead, they create music that could easily fit on an Alt-Rock radio station, just with lyrics that are positive and encouraging. Play Date mixes in a variety of musical styles to keep things fresh and interesting. One example is the quirky Hip-Hop grooves of "Ninja Pajamas" (featuring indie rapper P.O.S.) which uses a common theme for the band, that of letting one's imagination take flight. Another highlight is the closer "Goodnight," which uses a Bluesy Americana sound to match against Wintergate's tender singing. Across the board, the blend of catchy Rock and Kindie themes is woven seamlessly, making for an exciting music experience full of fun twists and turns.
