Tim Ries - Tim Ries Live at Smalls

In this exciting Smalls LIVE project, saxophonist Tim Ries explores an original terrain with fellow saxophonist Chris Potter. The group is rounded out by the powerhouse rhythm-section of John Patitucci on bass, Billy Drummond on drums and the fascinating Gypsy-born pianist Kalman Olah. Ries offers some poignant compositional work including the beautiful 'New View' and an intricate take on the theme from Schubert s string quartet in D minor called 'Death And The Maiden.' The communication between Ries and Potter is extraordinary and compelling and fascinating in the live context of the club environment.
