Howdy, Howdy and welcome to the Yampa Valley Boys second CD, TALES OF THE TRAIL. With Steve Jones on guitar and bass, and John Fisher, playing 5-String Frailing Banjo, Octave Mandolin, and Resophonic Guitar, the 'Boys' present their brand of western music, humorous poetry, and traditional cowboy tunes. The Yampa Valley Boys formed in the fall of 2000, driven by a common interest in western music, cowboy poetry, and the need to keep the tradition and heritage alive. Based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, they have performed literally hundreds of shows for the many guests and tourists that come to the mountain guest ranches, and ski areas. Tales of the Trail represents a collection of old time cowboy songs, contemporary western music, and humorous poetry performed in the traditional style. Ed Keenan reviewed TALES OF THE TRAIL for The Blend Magazine and wrote: '...The Yampa Valley Boys [are]... reminiscent of the early cowboy singers, part song, part talkin' poetry... their love of the old cowboy life comes through.' Western Horseman Magazine reviewers wrote: 'Traditional campfire tunes, songs by the likes of Red Steagall, and two originals... combine to create a fitting tribute to western music and the art of cowboy story telling.'
