Lennie Tristano was, undoubtedly, one of the more radical artists in Modern Jazz. As a pianist, Tristano brought about a very personal approach to the Bop idiom, based upon purity of sound and emotional restrain, this original approach was in the origins of the cool school. This 20-bit remastered CD gathers some of the more distinguished samples of Tristano's approach to piano, a style which today still manages to sound unusual and instructive. This 2005 Definitive Records reissue adds two bonus tracks of superb recordings by the Metronome All Stars 'Overtime' and 'Victory Ball'. Includes new cover sleeve, artwork and photographs.
