The American Civil War touched the lives of every family in the country, and the songs of the time present a broad canvas upon which the entire range of human emotions is painted. Music captured and expressed all those feelings, from the spirited marches that roused the troops to poignant songs of loss. Thus, 'The Bonnie Blue Flag' and 'Weeping, Sad and Lonely' represent that turbulent time. Jim Gibson's renditions of these songs are often simple to emphasise the strong melodies that have lasted for a century and a half. Jim's unusual improvisational approach rarely strays far from the melody, but offers such an interesting blend of styles, moods, keys and tempos that you can listen over and over and still enjoy the arrangements. Jim Gibson has written four books on the music business, taught full-time in Georgia State University's School of Music, and recorded thirtten albums for Hickory Cove Music. He has also played thousands of commercial music jobs, from interactive mini-concerts to jazz clubs to corporate and social events.
