SPB ENTERTAINMENT, LLC GOD IS GOOD!!!!!! BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF DR. WILLIE L. BARBER Willie Barber was born and raised in East Baltimore City, Maryland and educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, Paul Lawrence Dunbar. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD in Music Education and a Masters and Doctor's Degree in Social Work from Howard University, Washington, D.C. He has been married for thirty six years to his high school sweetheart, Shirley, and is the father of two adult sons and the grandfather of three wonderful grandsons and one granddaughter. In addition to his interest and passion for music, Willie is very interested and committed to the 'fatherhood movement' and has experiences as a practitioner and in program development and implementation that focuses on providing services to fathers and potential fathers in an effort to identify and remove barriers that prevented them from meeting their roles as responsible, accountable and effective fathers. He also has over 40 years of experience as a musician (percussionist) and over 30 years of experience in the field of social work. Some of the social work positions he has held have included social work practitioner, supervisor, administrator, statewide program director, assistant director for social services and professor. In 1996, Willie was appointed the first statewide Program Director of the Young Fathers/Responsible Fathers Program for the State of Maryland. He continues to be actively involved in the fatherhood movement and is one of the founding members, past treasurer and vice president and currently serves as Board President, of the Maryland Regional Practitioner's Network for Fathers and Families. In the field of academia, Willie has experiences as a professor of social work and chairman of a department of social work (Bowie State University). He recently retired from his teaching position in the Department of Social Work at his almalta, Morgan State University, to devote more time to God, his family, his music ministry, the fatherhood movement, writing and consultation with human services organizations. He is also a member of the music ministry of the church where he grew up and was baptized as a teenager, Mt. Pleasant Church and Ministries, Baltimore, MD, Bishop Clifford M. Johnson, Jr., Senior Pastor. Originally, Willie was reluctant to share some his personal information but was convinced it could inspire others to believe they can achieve whatever they want with God's help. He also feel he owe all he has accomplished so far in life to God and the support of his family and friends. He is also looking forward to what God has planned for him and his ministry. This is the first Gospel/Jazz CD produced by Willie. This project is a result of a vision he received from God in 1989 that included coordinating and performing gospel concerts at local churches utilizing vocalists and musicians from various churches and guest professional vocalists and musicians who were Willie's personal friends for numerous years. Since 1989 Willie Barber and Friends have performed numerous concerts at churches in the Baltimore, Maryland Washington D.C, etc. Areas.
