READ CRITIC REVEIWS-------------------------------------------------------------- "Ah, this is a magnificent record! Here we finally have a young band staying true to the soul-powered '70s with blues-based heavy guitar, strong dynamics, and groove-induced riffs in the spirit of Humble Pie, Zep, The Black Crowes and Free. The songs are top-notch, soaked in the essence of cool retro-rock. The band makes a huge statement in the eleven tracks that fill "Next Round". It's hard to believe this is only the band's second release as the songs are so refined, crafted and catchy. This Jersey quintet may have white skin but their soul is black." - Todd K. Smith, Cutting Edge Rocks, Author, "Heavy Load - The Story of Free The Holy Goats, certainly know how to grab an audience's attention. Their sound is very much blues/rock, with the soulful sexy vocals of their front man Todd McCullough. One of my favorite tracks has to be "Something To Tell You." This track had me hooked from the get go, with the awesome guitar riffs and solos teamed with the slinky/hypnotic vocals. This track pushed ALL my buttons. Another track I would recommend is "What You Do To Me." This song really had me ... and is, in a word,"Sexy." With blistering guitar riffs and strong smooth bass line, this track pulsed with energy - Helen Hosie, Krash City Magazine, UK "The Holy Goats - are a nice mix between Led Zeppelin and Black Crowes. The voice of Todd McCullough bears no immediate resemblance to Plant and Chris Robinson as one might think but an equal in his own style with lots of soul. They come from the New Jersey and deserve close attention. With this record, you can dive into beautiful works of guitar riffs and, you can dive into a good history of rock n roll, the real dirt and scratching. The sound and production on Next Round is a disc to listen carefully, because it's chock full of delicacies. Very nice also are the female choirs. Rock Press 'n' Roll brings you to 'listen to 5 songs! Then you decide if it's worth having in your hands on this Pearl Rock Record!" - Press & Roll - Italy From the rich opening twang of Something To Tell You to the closing chords of title track Next Round this blues touched, Southern rock album delivers 11 highly enjoyable songs with a very classic rock, very retro, very stylish feel. The whole album is steeped in it's Southern rock roots, but there is enough variation to keep things interesting. 'Next Round' positively reeks of sour mash whiskey split on saw dust. The songs are performed with an easy and seductive swagger and an amount of self assurance that will get you shaking to the Goats' highly infectious groove. This is an album well worth investing in' Yorkshire Soul,UK Southern-flavored blues-rock isn't exactly rocking horse shit and what the Goats present on "Next Round" is defiantly retro but they do it with undoubted conviction and plenty of oomph. Todd McCullough's throaty voice is as chocked-full of soul as Paul Rogers supplemented by female backing courtesy of Daphna El Roy, songs such as "Time to Recall" take on the same gospel tinge that the Stones and the Crowes deployed to such effect. Meanwhile a deep driving rhythm section and waves of funky swampy slide guitar give solid songs a substantial foundation from which to take off. "Something to Tell You" and"Temptation" are examples of what the band can do and should not disappoint.'- Neil B. Leicester Bangs Mag, UK Described like the meeting of THE BLACK CROWES and LED ZEPPELIN by the media, I must say that the HOLY GOATS is with all this pomp yes. With belts full of the blues and raw and exciting guitars, besides the backings inspired by the soul, the band it provides a beautiful travel to the rock n ' roll of the 70 years. Positively, they are not attached to the past not even to a southern to point of ignoring certain doses of hard rock, for example. In this sense, the production also is still completely very much polished, providing one to enjoy guaranteed listening of 'Next Round' in what it is only the second work of this excellent band. The best disc of rock 'n' roll in 2011. Heap of the Rock -The Holy Goats -Next Round "Man, what's come up again so suddenly, out of the blue, brilliant for bands from nowhere like THE HOLY GOATS that come from New Jersey and with a very large following of the BLACK CROWES Fans! As The BLACK CROWES take off for an indefinite period, I do not worry because The HOLY GOATS are THEE successors and are ready! Opening 'Next Round' with the riffing 'Something To Tell You', a number that propels the album - 70´s rock n roll with a lot of soul, blues and some gospel inspirations including dominating vocals. 'Marriott Soul' is obviously a tip of the hat to HUMBLE PIE, how cool is that!. THE HOLY GOATS are the first and best candidates that stand in the wings". -Thomas Schmahl, PowerRock and Metal Magazine, Germany Thank God, The Holy Goats have arrived to keep REAL soul-powered rock alive with their superb NEXT ROUND disc. Absolutely outstandingly killer right down to the way-kool lyrics, I can't get it out of the CD player!!! Joe Romagnola, Grooveyard Records " The Holy Goats take you on a trip back in time when good old fashion rock-n-roll ruled the airways. When the singers had soul and the rhythm section was tight and still walked with a groove. When the guitar players played more than just chords, they were LEAD instruments. All hail The Holy Goats!- Bill Rowan, Rocker Magazine, CA. 12 Shades of Humble Pie, Foghat, Bad Company, Grand Funk, Robin Trower, Savoy Brown, the 'Stones (the 'Goats do a nice job on'Stray Cat Blues'), color the hard-rockin', funk-fortified, boogie-blues delivery of guitarist/vocalist/bandleader and Chris Robinson-esque (Black Crowes) frontman Todd McCullough. Raunch rawk riffs, gut bucket vocals, great stage command, solid songwriting, soaring leads, a super tight low end make this a kegger band of your dreams. The Aquarian Magazine Fans of classic blues and blues-rock remain ever hopeful about a revival in popularity of the forms. Listening to the Holy Goats' debut CD, the songs are about loves won and lost, to be sure a blues theme, but the music is also punctuated by high energy dueling guitar solos, energetic bursts of drums and throbbing bass, and great vocal and harmony singing. Every track on the album is a winner. Their success is due to fans seeking a return to a more traditional blues-rock sound that hearkens back to the great blues-rock bands of the 1970s like Humble Pie, Foghat, Led Zeppelin, Bad Company and other Brits who brought the emotion and excitement of blues back to largely white American audiences in a modified format, often called blues-rock.
