The two works on this record typify the wealth of inspiration and sheer diversity to be found in the mature Mozart concertos. They are a remarkable synthesis of chamber music, opera buffs, and symphony/divertimento. No. 19 is the product of one of the composer's most fertile periods and reveals his active study of Baroque counterpoint at the time. No. 27 is the last concerto he wrote of any kind, and ranks with the Magic Flute as one of his profoundest masterpieces.
