
Athough subtitled "Song of the Night," Mahler's 7th Symphony is one of his few symphonies to be written without vocal music being incorporated int othe score. The designation came about because the second and fourth movements are both titled nachtmuisk (Night Music), and are infused with a nocturnal atmosphere.
