In the year 79 AD, the ancient city of Pompeii was buried beneath a sea of volcanic ash as near by Mount Vesuvius erupted. More then two thousand of Pompeii's citizens died. For almost 1,700 years, until it's rediscovery in 1748, Pompeii lay hidden - a city and it's people suspended in time.
