Life in the Basement chronicles Steve's musical maturation in the basement, honing his craft through the personal and intellectual quandaries that accompany, obstruct and often inspire the artistic process. The music moves from buoyant beats and playful melodies to hushed rhythms and ethereal, introspective wanderings but remains deeply personal and revealing throughout. The Steve Denny Trio originated from the bucolic fields of Greeley, Colorado where three University of Northern Colorado jazz students found a common creative bond playing unabashedly straight-forward and swinging music with a heartfelt sensibility and modern edge. The trio's musical purview includes original music and jazz standards creatively arranged to pay homage to the great musicians and music of the past. The group is committed to honoring the timeless music from the vast jazz lexicon and to the ongoing evolution and growth of the art form.
