THE GOODWILL TRIO If you had your radio dialed to KWTO in Springfield, Missouri in 1932, you would have heard the Goodwill Trio, little 'Junior' Haworth, 'Slim' Wilson and 'Aunt' Martha, singing some of the same great gospel songs on this collection. The group was known for their close harmonies, inspirational singing and musicianship that uplifted the hearts of listeners in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri and Arkansas. The Goodwill Trio appeared on KWTO for over 30 years while generations of Ozarkers grew up listening. 'Junior' Haworth, because of his prowess on the guitar started being known as 'Speedy' Haworth and went on to play with greats such as Porter Waggoner, Red Foley, LeRoy Van Dyke and Rex Allen but he never forgot his roots in gospel music with the Goodwill Trio. He and his uncle 'Slim' Wilson appeared on the ABC-TV series, 'Ozark Jubilee' with Red Foley and grew their fanbase to a much wider audience than just the Ozarks. Years later, after 'Speedy' Haworth had toured the world and accomplished so much in music, he decided to recapture those great sounds of the original 'Goodwill Trio'. Joining 'Speedy' Haworth in today's 'Goodwill Trio' is Jan and Charles Lee and the sound of 'real' old time gospel just thrills the listeners. Stan Hitchcock produced this CD in an 150 year old church in the Ozark Mountains.
