In their seven years of existance, Funkus (formed in 1998) has become one of Orlando's leading bands forging the spirit of community through their many musical endeavors and events from coast to coast in Florida. A founding member responsible for Orlando's Jambando, Funkus has been a key player in developing the emerging jamband scene locally as well as a longtime Orlando blues scene mainstay, appearing at the first annual Bluesfest last year (2004). Funkus also had the pleasure of having the Grateful Dead's original keyboadist, Tom Constanten, sit-in with them on two occasions in 2004. Their musical style ranges from country, punk, latin, funk, blues, rock and mellow jazz and has been named 'flavor rock' by the local press. Funkus has been described as BB King meets the Grateful Dead with some Meters and Phish mixed in... for flavor, of course. Members of the Legendary JC's, Bluelegs, Soul Cactus and the Grateful Dead's Tom Constanten appear on this CD, as well as an exerpt of the Philips Phile from Orlando, FL's Real Radio 104.1 FM. Dig the flavor! It'll grow on you... (get it?)
