In 2004, Heisman Trophy winner and professional football running back Ricky Williams traded adulation and a mansion in South Florida for anonymity and a $7 a night tent in Australia. Failing two drug tests and rumored to have failed a third, his decision to retire created a media frenzy that dismantled his reputation. But while most in the media thought Williams was ruining his life by leaving football. Filmmaker Sean Pamphilon and Royce Toni take an intimate look at one of football's most fascinating athletes to reveal a free spirited, often misunderstood person. Through personal footage, as well as interviews with family, friends, teammates and former coaches, Run Ricky Run follows Williams' five-year hiatus from the game, a soul-searching journey which ultimately leads to redemption as a father, husband and teammate.
